Moore’s work is questioning the notions of perfection and individuality and how they juxtapose against each other. 

 

We are constantly shown images of perceived perfection, what is it really?

Why do we strive for perfection? Do we truly want to be individuals? Or are our imperfections what make us individuals?

 

Can the notions of perfection and individuality coexist or are they always to juxtapose?

 

With Distorted Figures Moore distorts the proportions of the subjects. The process of distortion occurs blind to the artist and the outcome uncontrolled. 

 

Moore is trying to understand how people morph and change over their lifetime. They are a collection of the textures and marks, a patchwork of experiences intricately woven, pieced together making them an individual.
